This is a 1901 photogravure bookplate from China volume #6 of "The New America And The Far East", a ten volume set Illustrated with "over 1,300 Photogravures, Colored Plates, Engravings, and Maps". Total size is 7.5 x 10.5 inches, untrimmed. Please examine the image carefully, there may be small imperfections such as edge wear, small edge tears, marks, etc.. The protective tissue guard is still attached! The verso (the back) is blank.

A photogravure, or "gravure", is a photographic image produced from a copper engraving plate. The process is rarely used today due to the high costs involved, but it produces prints which have the subtlety of a photograph and the art quality of a lithograph.
