From the Southern California estate sale of a silent film collector! Very hard to find original silent film movie theater herald for PIDGIN ISLAND.
Pidgin Island is a 1916 American silent romantic drama film directed by Fred J. Balshofer and starring Harold Lockwood, May Allison, Pomeroy Cannon, Lester Cuneo, and Fred L. Wilson. It is based on the 1914 novel of the same name by Harold MacGrath. The film was released by Metro Pictures on December 25, 1916.
Pigeon Island tells of a pretty girl in the United States Secret Service who trails a band of smugglers. In this work she meets a fascinating young man, also a government agent, who is on a similar mission. She suspects him of being a criminal; he believes she is in the league with the band. Nevertheless they fall desperately in love. One stormy evening the girl goes to trap the smugglers. The young man follows and saves her from death. Then he seizes the lawbreakers, and the girl, learning his identity, confesses she is the daughter of the chief smuggler. It is a gripping climax, one that puts true love to the supreme test.
