When a plucky little girl held the destiny of a nation in her hands. Wynn Winthrop was such an innocent little lady that even the scheming ambassadors, so seasoned in intrigue and the trickeries of diplomacy, looked upon her as - well, just a sweet bit of fluffy femininity. But serious thoughts were running through Wynn's little head. She was concerned to see her father, whose wealth was a great power in the country, getting deeper into the nets that had been spread for him by the representatives of five European nations. For these nations, on the verge of bankruptcy, sought the ruins of America, that American gold might find its way into their lands, and Wynn's father was the tool with which they aimed to accomplish their purposes. But one night, a little mouse carried a bit of paper into women's room, and on that paper was part of a message that spelled disaster to America. So, into Wynn's hands was placed the destiny of the nation. And in the saving of her country she gained, all unbeknown to herself, the love of another patriot, that was destined to crown her victory over her country's foes.
