From the Southern California estate sale of a silent film collector! Very hard to find original silent film movie theater herald for RIMROCK JONES.
Rimrock Jones is a LOST 1918 American silent Western film directed by Donald Crisp and starring Wallace Reid.
Like many American films of the time, Rimrock Jones was subject to cuts by city and state film censorship boards. The Chicago Board of Censors required cuts, in Reel 1, of two scenes of a Mexican and Jones shooting at each other, the flashing of all roulette scenes, and, in Reel 3, two shooting scenes.
"A rip-roaring story of prospectors, with whom Wildcat mining schemes and love, play an important part. A story of pioneer days in Arizona written by a man who knew and lived them. Interpreted by Wallace Reid and an all star star cast. Rimrock Jones is a story resplendent with the romantic values of early mining days in Arizona. The picture gallery of pioneers are there, flourishing cowboys, hardy miners, immaculate gamblers, dance hall girls, Mexican boqueros, Chinese restauranteurs, all are there, working, fighting, playing, gambling, drinking, in their made rush for gold. It is a vivid cross-section of the days that are gone, at one of its most dramatic points. Rimrock Jones was a successful prospector who had made his find and lost it on a technicality in court. He has found a second. The fight he makes to keep and develop his second "Luck" is full of that course grained human interest which characterized the time period, but the girl and he win, win a fortune and happiness together. We like this. So will you. First because the story rings true. It was written by Dane Coolidge who lived that life and knew what he was writing about. And second because the part of Rimrock Jones is taken by Wallie Reid."
