This antique copper plate engraving bible leaf is over 225 years old, it came from Rev. Dr. Wright's The Christians New And Complete British Family Bible, Being A New, Clear, Full, And Universal Exposition And Commentary On The Holy Scriptures, by Paul Wright. We rescued many engraving plates from this very badly damaged bible! This bible is not dated but is commonly known to be from c1790. The paper is parchment vellum, you can literally feel the oldness and the difference between old and modern day paper, this paper is thicker and more flexible. Please examine the images closely, there may be small imperfections such as edge-wear and edge-tear, foxing, smudges, holes, etc.

This large plate is estimated at about 9.5 x 15 inches, or 24.5 x 38.5 cm. The verso, (the back side) is blank.

The bible title page reads "...The whole embellished with the most elegant set of large folio copper-plates ever published in a work of this kind; finely engraved from the original drawings and paintings of Hamilton, Dodd, Wale, Cipriani, Rubens, Vandyke, Raphael, and others, by those ingenious and celebrated artists, Pollard, Grignion, Goldar, Noble, Rennoldson, Conder, Jenkins, Smith, Thornton, Parker, Heath, Walker, Bartolozzi, &c. &c."
